What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is someone who officiates at ceremonies to mark key life events. These include weddings and civil partnerships, commitment ceremonies, naming and renaming ceremonies, and end-of-life ceremonies.
More and more people are choosing a celebrant because they’re looking for a personalised ceremony that reflects their individuality and values. A celebrant will work closely with couples and families to build a special lasting relationship. It's this connection that allows the celebrant to create a unique, unforgettable ceremony, full of depth and meaning.
Some celebrants work for organizations such as Humanists; others, like me, are independent. An Independent Civil Celebrant is not tied to any organization, religious or otherwise. This means that you can choose whatever content you like for your ceremony. If you want to include religious or spiritual elements, you can.
A celebrant-led ceremony offers you the freedom and creativity to make your day your own. You can celebrate where you like, when you like, and how you like.
